The wonders of paint protection

You’ve just driven out of the showroom or had your old car repainted lately? Everybody wants to have their cars stay like its new right? Then paint protection is what you’ll need. More than we think, paint protection is a very helpful investment for our cars. A lot of us think that paint protection are just one of the scams that dealerships or car care centers offer to get more profit. What we fail to see though are the great benefits that paint protection offers.

Paint protection make the vehicles look new for longer. This gives the car an extra layer of protection that prevents the car’s finish from fading away. This protects the finish from wear and tear that causes the paint finish to get dull and old.

Paint protection also makes the vehicle be washed easily. Protecting the paint from the harsh elements, this prevents the buildup of stains and marks on the car’s finish. As a result, less effort is needed to remove the dirt that sticks to the car. This also prevents bird droppings from eating up into the paint. So cleaning the droppings off is a breeze.

Good looking cars have higher resale values. That’s why a paint protection program is a very important addition to your ride. By protecting the car’s finish, this actually helps make the sheet metal of your care more durable, more resistive to corrosion.

Finally, a car equipped with paint protection lessens the need for maintaining the car’s finish. No need to religiously have the car waxed and polished as the car’s finish remains shiny and like new. This lessens the need for costly and time-consuming paint wash over making the cars keep it looking new for a longer period of time.

Now that we have discussed the myriad of benefits a paint protection offers, are you still not convinced to have your cars protected?

Keeping your car’s inner beauty

The “brand new” feel is one of the best things in a brand new car. Everything in it feels new. The paint finish, the curves, the rims. But since we spend most of our time driving, it is what’s on our car’s interior that we appreciate the most. Taking care of your ride’s interior is equally important as caring its exterior. So if you are sweating with having your cars waxed, here are some tips that could help you take care of your car’s interior and keep it looking like new.

- Get a small vacuum cleaner that you can use to clean your car. Oftentimes, we’d eat inside the car and have crumbs and remnants of our food under the seats or in tight corners of the car. Use the vacuum cleaner to get debris from the floor mats, seats the pedals and in other obscure places. Having the car’s interior cleaned up removes potentially dangerous materials in your car and helps keep it in good condition.

- Shampoo the car’s carpets to remove the dirt away. After some years of use, mats get real dirty. If your car uses carpets as its floor mats; having them shampooed or cleaned professionally is a must. For cars that have rubber or “all season” mats, it’s easier to clean as you could wash them with common cleaning solutions. This removes dirt and sticky materials that could make it unsafe for driving.

- Find the right kind of cleaning agent for your car. For tough stains, have the interiors professionally cleaned. For light or easy-to-remove stains, flex some muscles and get them to work.

- Make sure that you never miss anything when you clean the interior. No matter how tight some corners could get, you should never miss those tight spots. It takes a lot of patience and hard work to have everything covered but the results could be well rewarding.

They say beauty shouldn’t be only on the outside. So go, get your tools and start cleaning the interiors of your ride and keep that brand new look of your cars interior for years to come.

Taking care of metal and chrome

Taking care of metal and chrome

The metal and chrome parts in your vehicle give extra elegance to the way your car looks. That is why you need to take special care of them.

Common problems with these components are rust, dings and scratches, and these can easily ruin the style of your vehicle. Here, we present some tips on how to take proper care of your car’s metal and chrome parts.

  • There are several metal and chrome cleaners offered in the market today. Be sure to read up on the instructions on how to use these products. You can also ask your friends or mechanic as to the best product to buy. These cleaners usually offer both cleansing and protective properties.
  • Should the cleaner that you choose be harmful on the car paint, by all means keep it away from your car’s finish. These substances can easily damage the car’s paint.
  • Make sure to clean the inside surfaces of the bumpers as well. This is to prevent rust build-up on the bumpers.
  • Once you find rust spots, make sure you get rid of them before they get worse.
  • Though cleaners have rust-retarding compounds, it doesn’t hurt to give metal surfaces extra protection by waxing the metal and chrome surfaces.
  • It doesn’t hurt to spend extra time buffing and polishing the metal and chrome surfaces for that extra shine.

Housecleaning in your car

Housecleaning in your car

Of course, you also need to keep your interiors neat and organized for reasons that need not be explained.

Here, we outline some tips on cleaning the interiors of your vehicle.

  1. Keep the clutter minimum. If you don’t pick up after yourself, who will?
  2. It is advised that only the fire extinguisher is placed under your driver seat. You need that extinguisher handy during emergencies.
  3. Get cup holders if your car don’t have one. You don’t need the mess and stains from spilled drinks.
  4. Get a toy container if you have kids. Have them clean up their toys after playing.
  5. There’s a reason why there’s a waste basket. Don’t keep used food and drink containers in your car.
  6. Avoid placing heavy objects on the rear dash. These impair rear vision and could fly off during sudden stops. Also, keep small items like coins and pens secure and don’t place them on top of the dash. They could fall off and damage your car’s ac vents.
  7. Vacuum regularly—not just the interiors, but the trunk compartment as well.

These are some tips on keeping your interiors orderly.

Battery maintenance checks

Battery maintenance checks

Here, we outline the steps on how to take care of your battery.

As you know, no battery, no starting. No battery, no ignition. Basically a dead car. But there are times when battery problems are not really caused by a dead battery. Sometimes batteries just need a good clean-up and maintenance.

Before you work on your battery make sure that the car is cool and the ignition switch is off. Also prepare an old toothbrush and a lint-free rag for wiping the battery dry. While you’re at it, get some distilled water and baking soda for cleaning the battery terminals and refilling the battery.

  1. Do a visual inspection of the battery. Check for crust formations on the battery terminals (the point where the batttery cables are connected) and check the battery cables for damaged and worn-out jackets.
  2. If you’re batter has removable caps, remove it for a closer look at the battery.
  3. Check the liquid levels on the battery. If the liquid does not reach the tops of the plates, refill it with distilled water. Be careful not to go over the plates.
  4. If there are crusts or dust on the battery, wipe them off. Remove the battery cables by removing the negative cable first (the black one, usually, or the one with the negative (-) sign) for better access to the terminals. You can use the toothbrush should the deposits prove to be a bit resilient.
  5. Check the voltage of the battery through a voltmeter or a battery tester. It should read 12.5 volts.
  6. Examine the battery case and terminals for damage.

Should you need to get a new battery, get one from a well-known brand. This is to ensure that you’ll have a quality battery in your car.

And so, those are the steps in maintaining your battery.
